Voice recognition technology has significantly advanced, improving accessibility for individuals with disabilities. AI-driven speech recognition now offers greater accuracy, real-time transcription, and enhanced support for non-standard speech patterns caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, Motor Neuron Disease and stroke. This can be used to support augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and digital inclusion through dictation and voice commands. In addition, customisable voice assistants enable hands-free device control, while integration with smart home technology promotes greater independence in daily activities. This presentation explores recent advancements, highlighting how adaptive voice recognition enhances accessibility and empowers individuals with diverse needs.
