Manual wheelchairs even when configured optimally still require physical propulsion. Adding power can reduce impact on shoulders, maximise mobility or be used by a carer to reduce exertion. A power assist device can offer the flexibility to continue to use a manual wheelchair and travel in a standard vehicle. Come along to learn which clinical presentations indicate a power assist device may be beneficial and explore the designs available including push, pull and wheel add-ons. In this session we’ll go through the clinical reasoning and considerations for each to help determine the best solution for each individual.
